went to work today, and came to the conclusion that i want/need to find another job. they are doing all this stupid bull shit trying to get us to 1) have a handle time lower than 8:30 (average for the day), 2) solve the technical problem in that amount of time (one call resolution), and 3) try to sell the customer something also. most customers i talk to want to talk forever and ask me every question under the sun excpet for maybe why is the sky blue. also, you have these complete and utter morons who don't understand how to use a tv remote...it is just really annoying. they want too much from us, when the other employees at other centers just have to specialize in one thing, we are expected to do everything and do it faster and better than anyone else. wtf? i am just really sick of the bullshit, although the money is good, and i am really tired of customer service, even though i have only worked there for about 3 months... oh well, i just wanted to vent about that. had a long day at work. got some decisions to make (or at least try to make - i am always too lazy to actually do anything - just end up staying where i am...). well, goodnight all...

hey,

what do you need to do get a job like that in customer service? i wouldn't mind some good money so i can not starve to death in exchange for bothersome people asking me questions. my current job skills are sorely unwanted currently.

Wow, Hey it`s nice to vent, but what is customer service all about. Only been doing this for three months, but the money good. The way I look at it, NO question is stupid, if you don`t know the answer. Most companies, will try and get as much work out of you, as possible. Ever think, about asking, someone thats been doing is type of work for tips, on how to work, with customers without being rude. I`m semi-retired and guess what I still have to work, It seasonal, but I`m just trying to put money away for the winter, to pay tax`s and keep warm. If you dwell, on how bad your job is, it will, just make it harder, to do. Been there, done that, it doesn`t work in your favor. Have a great day..

I hate working in Customer Service... I use to work at Circuit City and come Monday morning that's all we would get. For the most part, the people who had issues where just ignorant and unable to cooperate with the norms of social development. Basically, people in need of customer service should first attempt to help themselves FIRST before demanding assistance.

I think it totally depends on where you are working and what type of customer service you are doing. It also depends on the price of the product you are selling. When I went to buy my last printer, which was $1,000 I asked *a lot* of questions. I had researched the printer for over 6 months, but I still hadn't seen a print from it (the web can't really do that for you.....) and there was still info that I couldn't find on the web that I had to ask. Most people ask questions because they honestly don't know. It's not right to assume that somebody is ignorant just because they don't understand something. Not everyone has time to research products, and some people are buying things spontaneously (which you never want to discourage by being a jerk to them). I have done customer service and support for over 8 years. There are people who drive me insane, but there are also people who send me chocolate because I have helped them with tough issues. It's all how you look at your job and the attitude that you have. Grass is always greener on the other side, but it usually costs more
